Sacrificing

Now that I'm 8 months pregnant,  I'm starting to think about saving money for not one, but two children pretty soon! So I will be sacrificing and saving  money for them. It's hard not to blow money on unnecessary things, but I need to put things in perspective. That's something that was on my mind that I think all soon to be parents are thinking about.

Update

Well I'd like to think I did a good job not spending too much money this month, but I guess it depends who you're asking! lol  I did spend a lot of money on eating out meeting up with friends...that's what I do with my friends :) I'd like to think that I did better with the impulsive spending though. It does help when I'm working all day- that keeps me from being tempted to want to get out of the house and spend money! However, I haven't worked very much so it's even harder for me to avoid spending. Next month, I should work on not spending a lot of food on eating out! It's hard because I like eating out :P!!

Time for an update!

Okay last night, my husband said "can't you go one week without spending money?" I had gone out to lunch with a friend and bought a shirt for my son- what's so bad about that!  Anyways, I suppose I need to try meet the challenge! Let's see if I can do that. I think with the help of this stormy weather that should  keep me from going out and spending money!! I will pray about it cause I can't do it alone and going online is tempting too. There is temptation all around us to spend money. It's one of my weaknesses to spend money so this will be a tough week!

Grocery shopping record!!

One good rule of thumb for grocery shopping: Stick to what's on your grocery list. Well I actually managed to do that this week and spent less than $30 at Super Walmart!! Yeah!! I haven't done that since I was nursing.   I buy only what I have run out of or need for the week along with picking the lowest priced garlic bread or rice, for example.  So if you stick to your list and buy the lowest price in that item I don't know how much you can save, but I know I am saving!  So try to avoid buying the sweets even if it's for just one grocery trip because I do like to buy the desserts but didn't do that this time :P.  I don't know if this blogging is helping anyone, I hope so!  -Jeremy's Mommy

Going to the mall- yikes!

Oh gosh the first time going to the mall and really watching my spending! Pray for me because I"m going to there to meet with our mom playgroup so our children can play on the play structure. It's my favorite mall and I know I will be tempted!!  There are a pair of boots I would like to buy too. Pray I don't get carried away- that is the important thing because I've done well for the first week of being careful with my spending.  I will keep you posted later today how I did - that is if anybody's really reading my blogs. Is this helping anybody or am I talking to nobody?  -Jeremy's Mommy
Which I didn't spend much money there! Hooray! Panda Express tried to upsell me for a medium drink haha which I said " a cup of water please," Didn't see any boots at Payless, bought a shirt  for my son that was on sale which I corrected the cashier of the sale price :) of $3.99 and found marked down Christmas gifts at JcPenney's. I did go to Babies R Us and bought a few things, but I didn't go hog wild. I did well for the week!

Don't go just because you have a coupon!

 January 6, 2009
I don't know why but I want to go to one of my favorite stores Ulta. I have a coupon but is that a good  reason to go? I have makeup here- practically every color eye shadow you can think of! and my Mary Kay products I use- foundation, bronzing powder, etc.  And I want to go foolishly spend because of a lame coupon!!  Yeah I know I'm going to have cabin fever being at home with my son but is that such a bad thing? No! I will stay home and avoid the stores!! I also have a rewards card but that's another way they get you in the door! In fact, the other night my husband said he wants me to cancel my department store credit cards- I only own two.  I'm just focusing on one day at a time on my spending habits. Boo store- you're not getting my money!
Although at 3:45 this afternoon I'm getting cabin fever- I feel like I need to get out of the house even though I took my son to the park earlier.  Is anybody reading these? Am I boring??

Why I'm doing this

So I finally realize I need to get a grip that so many of us have a problem with our American culture to SPEND SPEND SPEND!  I have old habits that I want everything from the newest American Idol album, to the fashion clothing top that looks so pretty. I have too many songs on my ipod and no room for any more clothes...so why do I keep spending? Well I need to start being on a budget which I never have. I hope I can help other moms/people who are in a similar situation as me. More to come on my journey of avoiding impulse buying.....              Jeremy's Mama
